ACT College Examination Preparatory CourseCollege PlanningAdvantage Educational Programs gives students the option of preparing for the ACT exam in two different ways: in-person or online. Both courses are designed for students who want to maximize their ACT exam score, as well as those who feel uneasy about their test-taking skills, or those who have taken the exam and aren’t satisfied with their results. The course includes diagnostic testing, instruction in time management, overcoming test anxiety, science reasoning, English strategies and review, essay writing, reading comprehension, math strategies, and review. Please bring notebook paper, pencils, calculator and a small 3-ring binder or folder to class. Students enrolled in these classes not only benefit from personal instruction provided by our experienced instructors, but also have free access to our online course. The live virtual ACT prep course is the same as the in-person ACT course, but from the comfort of your own home. Our instructors teach live via Zoom and are available to answer questions if needed. You will need an internet connection and a computer/tablet/smart phone. Instruction for all areas tested will be provided with focal points on diagnostic testing, science reasoning, math review and strategies, reading comprehension improvement, English strategies, writing essays, overcoming test anxiety and time management. CPR, First Aid & AEDHealth & WellnessThis blended learning (online learning and in-person skills) session will help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. Successful participants will receive a two-year Red Cross certificate for Adult and Pediatric (infant and child) CPR, First Aid and AED. Register at least 10 days prior to the in-person skills date, as time is needed to complete the online learning portion PRIOR to testing in person for the skills. This will allow you the time to complete lessons at your own pace. You will need to provide the instructor with proof of online completion in order to take part in the skills testing. Additional details regarding online learning session will be sent via email. A personal email address is required to receive class content. This is the perfect option if you cannot commit to a full class or want to try multiple different types of classes. Punch cards are valid for 6 months. Fused Glass Open StudioCreative ArtsFused Glass Open Studio provides time and space to create fused glass projects for beginner and advanced participants. A facilitator will be on hand for advice and support. A $25 material fee will be collected at the studio for each new punch card. Participants are asked to bring their own glass (COE90-preferred), cutting tools and molds (sharing of materials is also an option). Intro to Trout Fishing - Live on the StreamSpecial Interest & HobbiesThis 5-hour, in-person class is your fast track to becoming a confident fly angler. Join Master Guide, Scott in western Wisconsin as you learn the essentials of fly fishing. The first hour will cover: gear, rigging, knots, and the best flies for our local waters. Then, you'll hit the dry ground for a focused fly casting lesson. Finally, you'll suit up in waders and boots to fish for wild trout on one of Western Wisconsin's rivers, the Kinnickinnic or the Rush. All necessary fishing gear (rods, reels, flies, waders, boots, etc.) is provided. Participants are required to bring a one-day, Wisconsin fishing license with an inland trout stamp. Lap SwimAquaticsThere are six lanes available for lap swim, and the diving well is accessible for self-guided aqua exercise. Morning lap swim is open to adults and students over 15 years of age. Afternoon lap swim is for ages 18 years or older. There will be pool supervision during afternoon lap, but no lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk. Check-in with your I.D. for the 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM lap swim at the Community Education office in the Education Link. Enter through Door E24.
